Great Scott opened in 1986 in Maywood Mart by Steve Scott. At this time it was an 1800 sq ft. Store. 3 years later Steve Scott purchased the old 3200 sq ft. Lyle Williams drug store on Old Canton Road.
After 11 years we had out grown this building, sold it and moved into a 5000 sq ft. office building on Highland Bluff.
Ed Watanabe Architects from Dallas Texas combined our beautiful turn of the century fixtures with our new look.
Steve Scott started at the Age of 15 working after school and on Saturdays in his great uncles clothing store. He immediately developed a passion for the business and after working as a buyer for several clothing stores decided at the age of 39 to open his own stop. A good friend in the advertising business came up with the name Great Scott. Because of Steve’s love of tennis he had the Great Scott Tennis man developed as the stores logo. A collection of old tennis racquets and turn of the century antiques give the store a real flair.
Great Scott offers the finest in tailored clothing as well as sports wear and shoes. We work hard to find the very best to fit a wide range of price points.
At Great Scott it is all about the customer. We will do whatever it takes to make the customer feel special, which he is. We will meet him early and stay late, even go to his office or home and deliver whatever he needs to him.
